OBJECTIVES AND DIMENSIONS
The lack of articulation between the field of primary care and the field of public and community health makes it difficult to carry out activities of health promotion and disease prevention. The main objective of the project is to identify and analyze the challenges of primary care in Catalonia, brought to the fore by the COVID-19 pandemic, with respect to community health and social participation.
These challenges will be investigated from three interrelated dimensions.
- Long-term care for the elderly and dependent persons,
- Mutual aid networks, and
- The articulation between health and society.
The analysis of these challenges will lead to recommendations to improve the interaction of primary care with the other community areas, and to strengthen its public-health dimension.
METHODOLOGY
RET COV combines quantitative and qualitative research. Quantitative data will include sociodemographic variables and the main health indicators of the population before and during the pandemic, as well as the types of programmes and activities carried out in primary health care. The qualitative data will portray the experiences of agents and professionals from different fields.
